Life Screensaver

Catfood Life Screensaver is an artificial life animation based on Conway's Game of Life (Cellular Automata). The screensaver settings can be configured to adjust the size of world used, the density of population and color scheme. An initial population is randomly added to the screen and then animated through new generations until each cell has "died", at which point a new population is created.

The animation to the right is a demonstration of Conway's Game of Life. You can experiment by clicking anywhere on the animation to set up a new population. After five seconds the animation will start again. This animation is also available as a Google Gadget:

Copy life.scr to your windows\system (9x) or windows\system32 (NT, 2000, XP) folder. Life will now be available to select from your system's list of screensavers.
