Catfood Software is pleased to announce the release of Catfood Desktate version 2.00.

Catfood Desktate has been updated to provide more options including scaling (stretch the world to fit your screen), layers (plot locations, borders and more) and rotation (fix the map to any time or longitude). Desktate now also includes a screensaver as well as the ability to update your wallpaper.

Catfood Desktate combines satellite images to create a world map displaying day and night around the world - you can see sunrise, sunset and the changing seasons throughout the year. Desktate is an unusual enhancement that can continually update your desktop wallpaper or act as a screensaver.

You can choose to rotate the map so that a specific time is always at the center of the screen or fix the map to a favorite location and watch the terminator between day and night move throughout the day. The new layers feature allows you to plot world borders, cities and other data on to the world map of your choice.

Desktate includes three satellite images from the NASA Visible Earth project (two daytime and one nighttime) and allows you to select any image as the source. Links to suitable images are available on the More Images page.
